What is Art Therapy?

Art Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art making as the principle mode of expression. Art Psychotherapy can be helpful for people experiencing a range of mental health needs.

Talking about difficult feelings and experiences can be very hard, Art making offers a safe way to express these thoughts, feelings and experiences. I aim to support you to interpret and process these experiences in order to recover and move forward with the life you want to lead.

As an Art Psychotherapist I offer a warm and engaging therapeutic environment, a space in which you can be yourself. You lead the therapy and I work collaboratively with you in a side-by-side or non directive approach dependent on your needs. In sessions I aim to promote self awareness and for you to regain auntonomy in your mental health. Where suitable I can share practical skills and techniques to support your wellbeing, supporting you to support yourself. No art making experience is needed or expected to attend Art Pscyhotherapy, just curiousity!

I can and have supported people experiencing:
