What is Art Psychotherapy?
Art Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art making as the principle mode of expression. Art Psychotherapy can be helpful for people experiencing a range of mental health needs.
Talking about difficult feelings and experiences can be very hard, Art making offers a safe way to express these thoughts, feelings and experiences. My role is to support you to reflect. To interpret and process these experiences in order to recover and move forward.
As an Art Psychotherapist I offer a warm and engaging therapeutic environment, a space in which you can be yourself. You lead the therapy and I work collaboratively with you in a side-by-side or non directive approach dependent on your needs. In sessions I aim to promote self awareness and for you to regain auntonomy in your mental health. Where suitable I can share practical skills and techniques to support your wellbeing, supporting you to support yourself. No art making experience is needed or expected to attend Art Pscyhotherapy, just curiousity!
I can and have supported people experiencing:
